Hi! My name is Vladislavs Somovs, and I work at AGroup as a Junior Software Engineer.
What excites you the most about working on HRB Portal?
I’m excited to provide technical solutions for a product that supports essential day-to-day operations for our clients, helping them manage and streamline their internal processes. What drives me most is getting hands-on with fixing and improving features that are in high demand. I also really enjoy the problem-solving aspect – investigating issues, exploring multiple solutions, and implementing the best one using best practices while working within system constraints.
What are some of the biggest challenges you face in your role, and how do you overcome them?
One of the main challenges is that I’m still getting fully acquainted with HRB Portal and all its available functionalities, which can make navigating the system difficult at times. When that happens, I reach out to my colleagues for guidance. Another challenge is the size and complexity of the codebase. To handle this, I approach each task with patience during the investigation phase and rely on support from my team when needed.
What’s the most exciting project you’ve worked on so far at AGroup?
I’d say the most exciting project so far has been the PIT-2 tax declaration document for Poland localisation. It was assigned to me almost at the start of my work here. I had the opportunity to build it from scratch and implement few interesting data manipulation mechanics, which made it a bit challenging and most importantly – instructive.
What’s one fun fact about your team/company/HRB Portal that people might not know?
Even though we sometimes have shortened workdays due to Latvian holidays, many team members still choose to stay until the end of the regular workday to ensure tasks are completed on time.
